About Us
The mission of Events Edmonton will be to become Edmonton’s premier not-for-profit producer of festival events that showcase the culture and spirit of the people of Edmonton.
We will:
- deliver events on a year-round basis for the benefit of the citizens of Edmonton
- further enhance the city’s image as a great place to live and a desirable tourist destination through the production of world class events
- engage the volunteer spirit and talents of the people of Edmonton in the design, production and delivery of these events
Events Edmonton looks forward to many years of producing major festivals and events that make Edmonton a destination of choice, and a City to be proud of. On the 31st of January 2009 the name and by-law change became official. Events Edmonton replaced Edmonton Klondike Days Association (EKDA). The EKDA was started in 1963 to promote the Klondike theme in the downtown through the staging of Sunday in the City. As these events expanded and became more popular so did the role of the Association.
Over the years the Association has developed a reputation as an innovator in festival production. The very popular A Taste of Edmonton was born 25 years ago. In 2003, Events Edmonton was honoured to produce the largest fireworks display in Western Canada to kick off Edmonton’s Centennial celebrations. It was staged as part of the New Year’s Eve Downtown Festival which has been designated an official civic celebration. These successes lead to an invitation to co-produce the Provincial Centennial celebrations in 2004 and the Canada Day fireworks in 2005.The board of directors:
